Persepsi Siswa Kelas XI SMAN 2 Batang terhadap Penggunaan AI Sebagai Alat Bantu dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Jawa

Abstract
This study aims to describe the perceptions of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 2 Batang regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a learning aid in Javanese language instruction. The background of this study is grounded in the increasing use of AI by students in the digital era, including in Javanese language learning. This study employed a qualitative approach using a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to 121 respondents. The data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students possess a good understanding of AI and that the majority have used it in their learning activities, both in general and specifically in Javanese language learning. AI is perceived as helpful in assisting students in understanding rarely used Javanese vocabulary, constructing sentences, providing easy-to-understand examples, and improving learning time efficiency. However, the use of AI has not yet been fully optimal because students still face several challenges, such as inaccurate answers, the mixing of Javanese and Indonesian languages, and responses that are not contextually appropriate. Furthermore, some students become less motivated to learn independently and tend to develop dependence on AI. Nevertheless, students maintain a positive attitude and view AI as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for learning. They emphasize the importance of teacher guidance to ensure that AI is used wisely. This study confirms that AI has significant potential in supporting Javanese language learning, but it must be accompanied by adequate guidance and digital literacy.
